What a fabulous week we had in Pre-K!
The Halloween centers and Carnival ran so smoothly and the children were
engaged in a variety of games, art activities, and even a moon bounce! It was exciting to see how independent the
children were and willing to try new activities. Thank you to the parents who volunteered in
the classroom and for bringing in a creative costume for your child. I
appreciate all of your hard work. The children loved dressing up and sharing
their costume to friends. There were many
laughs and good times shared this week.
Carnival and Fall Party memories J
We visited the Upper School science lab
and were scientists drawing spooky messages and making slime!
Lila was the Star of the Week and was
thrilled to share her pictures about her family, favorite foods, and favorite
color pink!
Centers
Language Arts-The kiddos played a
letter matching game and letter splat with fly swatters.
Math- The children played a game using
a tens frame, spinner, and spider chips.
They had to add the correct number of chips to fill up their board to
make ten. This activity was great for
counting on and seeing how many more chips they needed to get to ten.
Fine motor- They made spider webs
weaving yarn. This activity focused on
hand and eye coordination and fine motor skills. To complete the web the children created spiders
to add to their web.
Art- We discussed this week how spiders
have spinnerets to release silk so they can build webs catching their prey.
With glitter, the kiddos made their own spider webs. Their pictures are displayed
on the outside bulletin board.
Journal- The prompt was, ‘If I was a
spider, I would..’ The children were adding eight legs and eyes to their spider
bodies in the picture and were able to dictate a story in 1-2 sentences.
Next week
We will continue our spider
unit. Also, conferences are this week. If you have not signed up please schedule
a time with either Melinda or me.
