The Pre-K children had a blast diving into the world of Dr. Seuss.  We read a variety of stories including: One fish two fish red fish blue fish, The Cat in the Hat, Bartholomew and the Oobleck, and 10 Apples up on Top. The activities this week were based on these book themes.  Take a look at our week!

The children made their very own oobleck slime! They mixed together glue, water and cornstarch.  I mixed in the borax to change the consistency to slime. The children were fascinated with the experiment.

In math, the kiddos learned about addition.  Goldfish were used as manipulatives to count out the corresponding number and then add the two numbers together. They did a great job!

Our art project this week was based on the story, Oh, the Places You’ll Go.  The kiddos used watercolors to paint a hot air balloon. They loved mixing new colors and added glitter as a finishing touch. Next, they demonstrated their fine motor skills by weaving a basket to attach to the base.  These will be displayed in the classroom this week.

In language arts the kiddos played a rhyming game.

The children finger painted counting the apples up on top.

Painting with animals!

The Pre-K kiddos visited the library this week. The librarian, Mrs. Wirth, prepared a fun lesson about firefighters.  Then the children created their own fire engines using different shapes.  Also, a highlight from the visit was finding their own book and reading in the big, comfortable beanbag chairs.

In P. E the children are practicing a variety of skills to showcase at the Palio show.  In these pictures, Mr. B is having the children jump on and off of a pommel horse.
